WE ARE EMPTY WITHOUT EMPATHY!

admin June 13, 2021 Article

I know,
I know that writing on Instagram about saving the world is stupid where there is so much saving to do and yet you can’t. When you see children not coming back from school, people dying of covid, of climate change, of droughts, floods and heatwaves, but most of all of the diseases that can be cured if only they were heard like depression.
I know how little our existence feels when we dont feel heard. So I write despite feeling stupid because what good are we as humans, if other people cannot relate to our story?
And how does that happen?
It happens when we carefully wrap our wounds in poems and set them out as words of encouragement for other people who are suffering, we wear our pain as badge of honour around our hearts engraved with words that if read aloud says “just survive a lil longer, I promise it gets better”.
and through those words, someone somewhere smiles through the tears and hopes for it to get better as s/he decides to linger on to this sweet and sour thing called life.
So you see what happens when we speak with empathy in our hearts for the pain of those who suffer?
We say that despite all the differences, the pain unites us, it gives us something that we can relate to other messy humans on the planet. It gives us a sense of belonging. Belonging to a larger group that makes us feel less isolated in times when isolation is the least we need.
But we humans are often not so easy. We try to school people, try to teach them something, try to give reasons for why xyz is feeling that way and how can it be dealt with when all we need is to listen so that others feel heard and speak only so that they relate to your pain and through your pain, others find a way out of the darkness.
So let your pain bleed words instead of blood on pages that could have been suicide notes in the first place and save someone by making them feel heard!
