AND THE COUNTRY CONTINUES TO SUFFER…
admin May 27, 2022 Article
Looking at the crazy state of affairs of Pakistan, one is perplexed at how we have reached to this end. People on the streets are fighting for a government in power with the people’s mandate that was ousted by the conflagration of all the other parties. The conflagration continues to rule despite facing harsh conditions and impending decisions. This is no new story. This country has been going round and round since its inception, with almost no party successfully completing its tenure in office and so unable to bring any visible change either in the policies or in the people’s lives. There are various reasons that contribute to this sorry state of affairs of Pakistan.
Be it the judiciary’s failure to provide justice to the common man, the establishment’s increased role in decision-making on policies rather than defense, the political parties’ inability to govern or the inheritance-based political parties that lack intra-party elections but ironically call themselves democratic. All have contributed to this mess that is now engulfing the country and the common man. The inability to deliver is affecting the populace and is visible in the lack of water in Sindh, Baluchistan’s people dying of cholera, the Sherani forests burning for weeks, Cholistan’s animals dying of heat waves and the alarmingly rising inflation stripping through the households of the upper middle class as well.
How can this mess be fixed?
This is the important question that needs to be answered. The following can help push the situation towards a better end.
Elections should be announced immediately as a government formed without the people’s mandate cannot rule efficiently. Moreover, the election commission must put in the effort to conduct the coming elections in a fair way that is acceptable to all the state parties. The immediate solution to the problem is elections. Governance and delivery are things that cannot be looked at without a stable environment. The political turmoil and intense environment can further lead to chaos that will push the country toward collapse.
Hence, immediate steps need to be taken to ensure that stability is brought back, and all the parties should come together to save the country from further damage so that a population of 220 million people is not failed.
