THE UNSOLVED PUZZLE OF LOVE!
admin April 14, 2018 ArticleIs there a thing called love
the mere concept of it
in all the other living organisms other than a human being
or if there is, it is similar to the one humans talk about
the one where you draw boundary lines
the one where limits are defined
the one where you can unlove a person
or maybe just getting bored of the concept over time?
What if they have the concept?
and what if it is even a better version of love
or maybe love does not have any versions
it exists in the purest of forms
Or does it even exists?
Maybe its a human overrating the feeling of attraction over any other feelings.
After all, it’s just another feeling completely governed by the action of hormones.
But it has destroyed cities, caused wars, killed people
Is that notion of love the real one?
Or the one where the husband digs a grave beside his dead wife’s grave
thinking as if they are cheating on time
holding on to it even after death separates them
Or maybe the mother who donated her kidney to the son
whose face is all pale, sitting on the hospital bed
coughing for days now, not knowing of how to repay the mother
who gave her life yet another time
but this time, by sacrificing her own life
Are all these notions the different versions of love?
Do they all portray love in equal proportions?
How absurd and cliche does it sound?
Millions of lives, thousands of generations
and hundreds of cultures have revolved around a four-lettered word
yet ready to sacrifice everything in the name of love
Or maybe they are right
Love is just a convenient distraction
formed to entertain our boring and routined lives
and if it is, will you still hold on to it
even if we are bored of each other?
If the thought of you didn’t cause butterflies in my stomach anymore
If the songs we played on repeat stopped making sense at all
If the messages we waited for the whole day long
seemed to annoy us more than bring us joy
Will we hold on to each other?
Or we will just get over it
Like everyone else, like every other story?
Caught in thoughts, at 3 am in the morning
when I can’t sleep, I think of all these questions but never get to the answer
But this I promise, I will hold on to my typewriter
Until I am here, or at least until I didn’t find the answers
But for now, I will close the book of thought
and leave it in the back of my memory somewhere
Until I decide to open it for another 3 am
and reread all the questions all over again…
